Asher Timothy
2010-04-15This is not Asher... this is our little peanut Zoe. She was posing for us while we were trying to set up a backdrop to do baby pictures. As you can see, she is quite the little poser.

She is just starting to roll over, so she kept messing up the blanket, or rolling off the bean bag.
We took these pictures in our dining room. The light in the evening comes in the windows just *perfectly* that we didn't need any extra light at all.
Now to Asher.
This is my friend Dawn's 3rd baby. I wanted to do something really special for her, since I did both of her previous babies. So a lot of time and preparation went into this shoot. I bought a blanket, a rug, a beanbag, and 2 baskets to have some really nice props.
When Dawn and Asher got to my house, Asher was sleeping. He was such a good little poser, and even gave me a few smiles!

What a cute baby! He has the sweetest little lips....

And the bluest baby eyes I've ever seen~

What a precious little bundle!

Dawn, thanks for coming to my house to do photos, you have such a sweet little baby boy...... Congratulations!

All those pics are awesome. The ones of Zoe are so cool. It totally captures her personality.

The Grand Canyon at Sundown
2010-04-14The Grand Canyon is a must-see for every American. I imagined it to be impressive. I was amazed by the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, but THE Grand Canyon dwarfs it. We managed to get there just before sunset. Unlike many landmarks at State Parks in the East, the Grand Canyon was not roped off or fenced in most areas. You could freely roam down into a crevice if you wished. And I did. I saw a rock bridge that jutted out into the canyon and climbed down and then up. As I crawled out onto the island mesa I could feel the 330 degrees of straight vertical drop around me. I thought I had flooded my fear of heights during my days of extreme snowboarding, but this was different. All I could do was slowly sink to a seated position. I mustered up some bravery to stand again because I wanted to breath it all in. It's places like this that really make me feel close to God. The immensity of this canyon is truly breathtaking. I wish we would have had a bit more time there, but we did have enough to find a good spot for a few sunset shots. However, it's also a place that photography cannot do justice to. I hope to visit again.

Route 66
2010-04-13Here are few pictures from our trip to Las Vegas last month. We decided to take old Route 66 to get to the Grand Canyon, and quickly realized that the movie cars was actually based on the drive we were on, with many details matching precisely. We came across this really cool old gas station and could help but get the camera's out and wander the property for a while. Here are a few I liked best.

Feet in Mouth
2010-04-08This is our 5 month baby Zoe. She is just learning how to put her feet in her mouth and chew on them! We all think it is the cutest thing!

The Bowman Family
2010-04-07Kristin and I shot some people last Friday. Having a career where you not only get to shoot people, but have them pay you do it is a strange thing. Lindsay (the mom) is Kristin's cousin. They say never do business with family, but whoever said that was wrong. There is always a danger that being familiar with the subject you are photographing can cause chaos to be unleashed. However, this shoot could not have went more smoothly. Lindsay informed us at the get go that her daughter would not smile, and that would not be a big deal for pictures. Kristin and I on the other hand would not be defeated so easily. She certainly was a serious little girl, but after Kristin worked a bit of magic (that is, acting the fool behind me while I was shooting), she began to light up. As you can see in the pics below, she was great. It went completely smooth and we captured many great smiles for the family to cherish for years to come from this her first birthday.

The one below is my favorite of the day (of the Bowman family - see Judah below).

This last pic, my true favorite of the day, needs an explanation. It is best to take pics a bit before dark. After we were shooting, we went over to the Lindsay and Brett's house for a cookout and so our kids could play. As time went by it got pretty dark. Right when we were leaving, Judah, my son, and The Bowman's youngest were running full speed in the dark and Judah's mouth lined up right with his cousin's forehead. If you know Judah you might notice that his upper lip is a bit puffy. By the morning he had swollen even more and would qualify for a part as the Grinch, or a Who from Whoville. You can kind of see it forming in the pic below. He is almost healed from it now, but he might loose his two front baby teeth. If he does, I will put up a pic for all to see.

Nelli:
If he does loose his teeth... He will be just like Liddy and Joshy. They both got one of their front baby teeth knocked out!
