Chelsea and Nick - Married!

This past Saturday, Kristin and I were able to photograph the wedding of Nick and Chelsea at the Ritz Carlton in Cleveland. One of the highlights of our occupation is spending important days of celebration, days that are milestones of life, with wonderful people like these two. Chelsea and Nick have something that made our photography turn out greater than we could control with a camera, they have relaxed and inviting personalities and above all love for each other that shines right through the lens. It was truly a pleasure working with them.

Katelyn + Sam Married!

On News Year's Evewe spent the day with Katelyn and Sam. It was actually my first wedding back since I had Jude. It was such a fun day. I think I talked about how nice it was and how beautiful everything was (the dress, the church, the shoes, the reception hall and Katelyn) for the next few days! Even looking back over the pictures a week later, I am so impressed with what a great job these guys did with planning their wedding. I really had a great day with Jesse at the wedding and it was a fun way to bring in the New Year.

Katelyn and Sam are both from Ohio. Little did they know that choosing to attend college in Hawaii, they would meet and fall in love. Just spending 1 day with them, I could see how much they care for each other. Sam likes to make Katelyn smile, or laugh. Sam is free-spirited and Katelyn is charming and beautiful. They also have an amazing family and group of friends. All day I was meeting them... all brought together for these incredible 2 people.

Jesse and I met Kate at her parent's house. It was so beautiful - even the Christmas tree was up with all the lights. Katelyn and her friends were getting ready and having fun.

They got married at St. John's Catholic Church in Cleveland. They had 19 Christmas trees!

St. John's church is so beautiful inside. Everywhere you look is breathtaking.

I love this picture that Jesse took.

Since it was so cold, Katelyn's brother suggested that we go to their parents favorite bar to get a few pictures. It had a really cool tree all decorated with ornaments.

Their reception was at the courthouse. I think it was so ellegant. We took several pictures inside before the reception started. What a great decision to have it there! It was perfect.

Katelyn made this signature drink. She even made a little sign to put by the table.

"Sneed" a drink? "Sam"ple a "Kate"tini!

Hope and Mark - Married!

Kristin and I were able to photograph a wonderful wedding last Saturday, the union of Hope and Mark. I feel like I compliment every bride and groom we photograph but all of my compliments are sincere. Hope and Mark are no exception. From the moment Kristin and I saw Hope on her wedding day she was full of joy, and the moment Mark laid eyes on his bride he was mesmerized. You can see their love so evident in the photos below. We have been blessed with the ability to capture emotion, but the emotion is not ours. Every time we are able to photograph two people in love like Hope and Mark we feel honored to have been a part of documenting their love. In the end, the wonderful photographs below are not simply our ability to use a camera but our ability to allow the love that was present between Hope and Mark to fill up the lens.

Deanna + Mike Engaged!

We had a great time with Deanna and Mike during another amazing fall engagement session. We went to one of my favorite locations and appreciated the rays of sunlight and 60-something degree November weather. I could tell right away it was going to be fun. Here is one of my favorite images of the afternoon...

As you can see the colors were amazing through the session.

We decided to take a break from the usual and add in a few of the more classic poses we could think of, all in good humor:)

Carolyn + Josh Engaged!

We photographed Carolyn and Josh last week to celebrate their engagement to be married next summer. I was excited to be able to shoot at a location I've desired to shoot at for quite some time, but it had to be the right weather and the right season. Well this day was the perfect day. The leaves were covering the ground and the sun was shining through. Here's one of my favorites from the day...

It was also fun to get to know Josh and Carolyn better. Times like these always make us excited for the wedding to come.

We spent some time hiking through the forest, where few people ever step. It was well worth it.

We then made our way out to this open field.

I really like this shot too.

Josh and Carolyn, we had a blast with you. It was non-stop fun for us. We'll be looking forward to August.

Quinn and Drew - Married!

Last weekend we were blessed to spend the day with another amazing couple – Drew and Quinn. From Quinn’s glow and huge smile when we first arrived, Kristin and I knew the day would be a delight for everyone – and of course it was. As her mother and sister pointed out in the speeches at the reception, Quinn has dreamed of her wedding day since she was a little girl. You can see in the pictures below that her and Drew’s actual wedding day turned out better than one could anticipate. Drew and Quinn’s love for each other and their overabundant happiness is captivating to look back on in these pictures. Kristin and I take out work as artists seriously, but we always must acknowledge that without the love between the couples we photograph (like Quinn and Drew!) and the beauty that we discover all around us, we would not be able to create what we do.

As is common with terrific wedding days like this one it was such a challenge to pick out a sample since there were so many wonderful pictures. This first shot is one of our favorites of the day – the emotion evident between them is wonderous.

The message at the ceremony was one my favorite wedding messages I have heard - and I have heard a lot. It was about the true commitment that a marriage entails - love in the face of all circumstances - Kristin and I wish nothing more than for Drew and Quinn to continue to experience this love.

Drew and Quinn raced to see who could cut their side of the heart out first - Quinn won if anyone is keeping score.

A must stop at Starbucks for a refill!

Log Cutting (Baumstamm Sägen) - a Bavarian tradition that Quinn's family picked up from an exchange student that is a tough task that both must work together to accomplish - like real married life!

To top off a wonderful night a random and wonderufl fireworks display colored the windows at the reception.

Sarah and Chris - Married!

Sarah and Chris were recently married. It was more than a pleasure for Kristin and I to spend the day with them photographing their wedding. They were both so full of joy to be together and with family and friends that it was truly infectious. Everything about the day from start to finish was perfect – the weather was quite a surprise, going from a terrible forecast to wonderful skies and mild temperatures. Though all the events and details were superb, it was Chris and Sarah’s love for one another that made this great day the amazing time that is was.

This first shot was one of our favorites, but since there are so many terrific ones - it was a difficult choice!

Cute relationship fact #1: Sarah was a bit too nervous to tell Chris "I love you" for the first time - so she used a game of scrabble as an opportunity to spell it out.

Cute relationship fact #2: Chris and Sarah use rock-paper-scissors as a battel to see which one loves each other most - though this match was best two out of three, I thought it expedient to show the warmup and the tiebreaker - apparently Sarah love Chris more - at least until next match!

Attila + Renee Engaged!

It was a pleasure to see the excitement that Renee and Attila had for their wedding and to be with each other. The evening was filled with excitement and laughter:)

Jessica + Joe Engaged!

Joe and Jessica chose a beautiful park in Mentor for their engagement photos - the same park that Joe proposed to Jessica at! It was a perfect Ohio fall evening for their photos. Ever since meeting these two at their friends wedding in September, I've been excited to photograph their engagment photos. Joe was a part of the bridal party, so I already knew it was going to be a fun time. Here's one of my favorite shots of the evening.

Joe and Jessica are planning their wedding for 2013. Taking a walk in a park with these two seemed like a perfectly nature setting for them. Joe could point out most plant or bird species along the way.

It's so great to work with couples who are willing to open up and express their emotion and connection. I consider making people feel comfortable expressing themselves the most important aspect of my photography, so working with couples like Joe and Jessica is equally delightful for me.

The colors were amazing all evening! There's nothing like fall in Northeast Ohio.

It was a great time spending the evening with you. I'll be looking forward to the wedding!

Andrea and King - Married!

Last week King and Andrea were married in a wonderful ceremony at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton. The weather could not have been better and the fall colors were at their zenith. But this wonderful environment could not outshine such a radiant couple as Andrea and King. One of my favorite aspects of their wedding was a traditional African-American broom jumping ceremony. Like most traditions, the history of its origin is a little fuzzy. Its significance comes from its use during the time of American slavery as a covert way for slaves to marry when it was illegal and forbidden for them to do so. Being able to photograph this celebration and remembrance was an honor for Kristin and myself.

This first shot is one of our favorites of the day, but since there were so many wonderful shots it is not the only one were smitten with.
